Dehradun(Ankit Tiwari): Saurabh and Ms. Bhumika of Shaheed Durga Mall Government Postgraduate College, Doiwala, will be honored with this year’s NSS Best Volunteer Sain Srijan Award. Prof. K. L. Talwar, founder of Sain Srijan Patal and retired principal, provided this information.
He said that this prestigious award was instituted last year. Under the award, two best NSS volunteers selected by the college will be honored with a certificate of appreciation, a memento, a jute bag, and a cash prize of ₹1,100 each. The cash prize will be provided by retired principal Prof. Janki Panwar, a member of the advisory board of Sain Srijan Patal.
Principal of Doiwala College, Prof. D. P. Bhatt, said that the two NSS volunteers were selected for the award on the recommendation of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Shiv Kumar Lal. Saurabh is a third-semester student, while Ms. Bhumika is a fifth-semester student.

It is noteworthy that the National Service Scheme (NSS) was established on September 24, 1969. Prof. Talwar served for several years as an NSS Programme Officer, District Coordinator in Uttarkashi, and editor of the state-level magazine Yuva Sankalp. Prof. Talwar, who was honored with the Sparsh Ganga Shikshashree Award in 2021, has also authored a book for NSS volunteers preparing for the ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate examinations. The book was distributed free of cost to students in various colleges.
The award will be presented ceremonially at Doiwala College on October 2.
